An Ixii Sol in Aries March 21, 1938 e.v.

Preface (1926 ev)  "The Preface was taken from the extremely rare Tunis publication, privately issued in 1926 ev, entitled AL (Liber Legis), The Book of the Law, Sub Figura XXXI.  It was limited to eleven boxed sets of photographic prints of the MS of Liber AL.  Each set was accompanied by a folded quire produced in accordance with the specifications in AL III:39, 'printed beautifully in red ink and black upon beautiful paper made by hand.'"

Introduction (1938 ev)  "The Introduction and the text of Liber Legis were taken from the first publication of Liber CCXX in a single volume outside of other collections, The Book of the Law (London:  O.T.O., 1938).  This was corrected by the Order for the republication issued by Samuel Weiser in 1976 ev (last reprinted 1989)."

Chapter III

"Crowley wrote several analytical commentaries to The Book of the Law, two of which (the 'Old' and 'New' Comments) were published as An Extenuation of the Book of the Law (Tunis:  privately issued in typescript, 1927; published in an abridged edition as The Law is for All, ed. F.I. Regardie, Las Vegas, NV:  Falcon Press, 1988).  The 'Comment called D,' or Djeridensis Comment was written in Tunis in 1923.  It was published in Magical and Philosophical Commentaries on The Book of the Law, ed. Symonds and Grant (Montreal:  93 Publishing, 1974).  The Equinox III(3), The Equinox of the Gods (London:  O.T.O., 1936) included an extensive discussion of the reception of The Book of the Law and much other relevant material."

The Comment  "The Tunis edition marked the first appearance of the Class A 'Short' Comment, received in 1925 ev, but prophesied over twenty years earlier in AL III:40:  'But the work of the comment?  That is easy; and Hadit burning in thy heart shall make swift and secure thy pen.'"
