I travel to my students and teach an original, graduated chord method that has gained a good reputation for being effective with beginners, including children.  I also teach more advanced aspects of guitar on six-string or seven-string, acoustic or electric, in any style and at any level.  I follow a very clear and logical curriculum, but the student's goals and tastes are the first priority.

What I Offer Young Students:  I intentionally but naturally try to teach my young students the value of a single, long-term goal, pursued by focusing on a series of small steps with discipline and persistence, motivated by both joy in the process and joy of results.  I also encourage free-thinking and self-determination while trying to exemplify the value of expert guidance, explaining and applying both independent problem-solving and guitar tradition.

What I Offer Advanced Players:  I've refined methods for simplifying eidetic mastery of all the forms of the diatonic and pentatonic scale shapes.  I'm experienced in some of the scale improvisation practice methods adopted from Indian musical training by John McLaughlin (Jimmy Page's guitar teacher).  I'm also a student in the tradition of the legendary and pioneering jazz virtuoso Lenny Breau, and am experienced in aspects of the Lenny Breau Style such as harp harmonics and keyboard-style jazz chord-melody playing.

My Qualifications:  I have an Associate of Arts degree in Music Composition and Theory.  I've been developing and applying guitar methods in Standard and Uniform Tunings for about 14 years (with the aid of my own software).  I've also supported and led talented musicians in classical, jazz, rock and fusion.

I'll come to you, anywhere in Orange County.  (Gift certificates and group rates are available.)

My rate is $35 for a half-hour lesson, $48 for 45 minutes, or $60 for a full hour.
