You'll notice the fret markings are a little different than traditionally. This is because this pattern of markings makes extremely clear sense in the Major Thirds Tuning, which was my primary tuning for a few years. (See a diagram of the pitches in Major Thirds Tuning.) I was satisfied with the Les Paul Seven-String, but I didn't know what I was missing. This is the best guitar in the universe. The scale-length is longer so there's less inharmonicity (meaning the overtones are more in-tune and the low pitches suffer from less "muddiness"). Improved pitch stability is clearly visible on tuning meters. The intonation is immaculate. The pickups and tone controls are much better quality. The natural sustain is terrific--better than I expected for a bolt-on. And speaking of sustain, the Sustainer is amazing. It's not just a novelty that's fun for a little while--it changes the whole nature of the instrument, akin to organ versus piano. The amount of effect is completely variable. (For an example, have a listen to my rendition of James Taylor's "Fire and Rain".
